The 35 East Wacker Drive building was formerly known as the Jewelers building. It was one of the last commercial structures in Chicago to be designed in the Classical Revival style that became popular after the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893. mThe building was completed in 1926. It was intended to house jewelery trade and was fitted by a central car elevator that could lift cars upto the 22nd floor. This was to reduce the chances of customers being mugged on way to their cars.
