Special high grade, vessel strength stainess steel about two-&-quarter inches think were made specifically for these statues. They were ordered from Indiana. Also, everything that goes under the concrete has special coating to make them non-corrosive. The sculpture is made to last for more than a 1,000 years..
When I was at Duroweld, I noticed that the individual pieces had holes on the head and shoulder [image below, click to enlarge]. At the installation site I saw how these holes were used..
The frames and the statues had numbering to ensure they are placed propery..
Notice how part of the heels is colored black. The actual contours of the heels would not have been very stable. So to increase the base stability, a broader base is made, and part of the heels has been colored black..
