Loop: Mural - by Mark McMohan
Loop: Mural - by Mark McMohan
Location: Intersection of Federal St and Van Buren St ... Near the entrance of "L" Federal station ... it's on the outer wall of car park building ... Loved this tile mural!!!
Although I cant help with identifying this. But I commend your efforts in bringing out the art in Chicago. very meticulously maintained with excellent images.
I was able to find this one with a little googling. The sculptor is Mark McMahon - here's his site: http://www.mcmahonartgallery.com/index.html and specifically his murals: http://www.mcmahonartgallery.com/wall-ceramic-murals.html and here's an article he posted on the mural: http://www.mcmahonartgallery.com/h/harticles/18.html His resume shows the date as 1989. The piece was for the General Parking Corporation facility and is a 8' by 125' ceramic tile mural.
It has been fun helping to identify your mystery photos!
Alan, Thank You!! I admire your ability to find information...I tried so much to find information on this, but coudnt find any!! The artists must always get their due recognition. It's sad when we cant find information on them. I seriously think that all the works of art should have a plaque mentioning the name of the artist, year installed and so on.. at least when they are in a public place. Thank You again.
