King Lockhart Park

King Lockhart Park honors two Chicago firefighters who lost their lives battling a fire in Beverly tire shop that occupied this site in 1998 - Patrick J. King and Anthony Lockhart.  The site remianed vacant till 2009, when Chicago Park District acquired the land. A site was designed into a park by landscape architects Daniel Weinbach & Partners, to provide a quite and reflective space that provides tribute to the two heroes.

In 2014, a sculpture of a firefighter carrying a child on his shoulders by Chicago artist Marshall Svendsen was added to the park. Rather than a firefighter saving a life, the artist portrays the two in a joyous situation. Marshall Svendsen also created the bronze boots and helmets at the park.
