This figural group depicts a group of blind people rendered from a scene from Maeterlinck’s tragic drama, Les Aveugles (The Blind) in which the group is wandering lost through a forest without the ability to see; the group unifies with the hope that the young child (positioned in the center), who is able to see, will lead them to salvation.

Description: approx. 127 feet length 

Made with hollow-cast concrete, reinforced with steel and incorporated pebbles from the Potomac River. This composite material was an innovation at the time .

Location: Western edge of the Midway Plaisance in the Washington Park 

Washington Park is registered in the National Register of Historic Places, and this sculpture is a contributing structure in this achievement.

Commissioned by the B.F.Ferguson Monument Fund, to commemorate the first 100 years of peace between the United States and Great Britain, resulting from the Treaty of Ghent in 1814.

Inspired by Henry Austin Dobson's poem, "Paradox of Time" ..

Lorado Taft originally crafted this pair of sculptures in plaster for the 1909 art exhibition in Garfield park Garden. in 1908 they were on temporary display in Humboldt Park Rose Garden.  The sculptural groups were so liked by the public that the West Park Board commissioned Lorado Taft to create a permanent marble version of them.

First monument commissioned by the B.F.Ferguson Monument Fund,

 as a memorial to B.F.Ferguson.

Fountain of the Great Lakes is an allegorical sculpture by Lorado Taft. As the name suggests, this fountain represents the five great lakes. The five women are so arranged that the water flows through them in the same way water passes through the Great Lakes. 'Superior' is on the top and 'Michigan' on the side both empty into the basin of 'Huron' who sends the stream to 'Erie' whereas 'Ontario' receives the water and gazes off as it flows into the ocean.

The Crusader memorealize Victor F. Lawson (1850-1925), the publisher of Chicago Daily News. The Crusader was commissioned by Victor Lawson's brother Iver Lawson. the Crusader, a medieval knight is used to symbolize the character of Victor Lawson.
