Location: Rosehill Cemetery

The 30-foot high monument is dedicated to Union soldiers who dies in the Civil War. The memorial consists of a square limestone shaft topped by a marble figure of a Union standard bearer holding his flag in the left hand and a bugle in the right. In front is the inscription, "Our Heroes".  The Four bronze plaques on the sides represent Union cavalry, infantry, artillary and naval units.

At the base of the monument there are 

Four bronze plaques on the sides representing 

Union cavalry, infantry, artillary and naval units.

The Infantry in the American Civil War comprosed foot-soldiers who fought primarily with small arms and carried the brunt of the fighting in battlefields across the United States.  The vast majority of soldiers on both sides of Civil War fought as infantry.

During the American Civil War the Union (North) and Confederate (South) navies engaged in naval warfare, with the Union Navy eventually dominating the seas and playing a crucial role in blockading the Confederate ports and controlling key waterways.
