Abraham Lincoln is portrayed as a symbol of liberty.  He is youthful as he appeared when he spoke to Chicago audience on December 10, 1856, suing the words inscribed at the base...
"Free society is not and shall not be a failure."

He is holding a book and a stovepipe in his left hand and is resting his right hand on a podium.
