The Veterans Memorial Park is dedicated to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and freedom. This Memorial Park is an attempt to recognize all veterans with one central monument in their honor.

This memorial is erected in deep gratitude by the Citizens of Elgin to honor the service of all veterans throughout city's history. The sacrifices made by the men and women of the United States armed forces in protecting our nations freedom in peace and in war will never be forgotten.

The Veterans Memorial Park is an attempt to recognize 
all veterans with one central monument in their honor.

Relief sculpture of larger than life-size replica of Combat Infantry Badge.

The combat infantryman's badge is the most respected award the U.S.Army can bestow on ground troops who have served and proven themselves in combat. 

It was designed and sculpted in 1943 by Elgin resident Trygve Rovelstad - the first heraldic artist and medalist sculptor of the US War Department.
