Mr Kearney has been creating art from chrome bumpers since 1970's and has many works of arts on permanent display across Chicago. As a sailor in World War-II . Mr Kearney learned welding to do underwater repairs of Naval vessels.

Thanks for the background story! I did a search on Flickr for John Kearney works and turned this up!
You might be interested in more of John Kearney's work at Oz Park (Larrabee and Webster in the Lincoln Park neighborhood). He has done statues of the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, and Dorothy/Toto, so far. Only the Tin Man is in his inimitable car-bumper style, but all are good.
By the way, I've been following your photo blogs for a long time. Not only is it excellent stuff, but it's nice to know of someone else who loves Chicago as much as I do.

Thanks for the information. I have updated the post and uploaded the Tin Man image ... and also added a post on the Oz Park ..although the photo of the Cowardly Lion is missing ...
These are not very good images, and till I get a chance to visit the place again, and take some better photos, these remain ...
