Day Trip to Urbana-Champaign - Part I [UIUC Campus]

July 3, 2012: A Day trip to UIUC..
UIUC stands for University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois.

On an extremely hot summer day, with temperature ranging from 96- 98-degree F. What triggered the trip was the news of the impending removal of the famous Lorado Taft statue, "Alma Mater" from the campus, for about a year, for the much-needed restoration.  The staue is supposed to be removed in August 2012 and brought back in May 2013.  I had long wanted to see this statue, and I wanted to see it before it was removed. Like any premier university, UIUC has many sculptures in its campus. There was no point returning back seeing just one piece, so I tried to see as many as possible. And here they are...

My Urbana-Champaign trip can be subdivide them into three categories:
- UIUC Campus
- Krannert Art Museum
- Wandell Sculpture Garden in Meadowbrook Park
