Yesterday, I took a trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan.
220 miles in 3.30 hrs..
Occasion: Art Prize, 2010.
Open: September 22 - October 10, 2010..
It's an "Open" competition, open to any artist in the world. There are more than 1,400 participants. The First prize is $250,000..
There are many venues for displays..
- Grand Rapids Art Museum
- Urban Institute of Contemporary Arts
- Diocese of Grand Rapids' Cathedral Square
- Grand Rapids Public Museum
- Women's City Club
- Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park
- GVSU Outdoor Art & Sculpture Exhibition Center..
I loved the Grand Rapids, and was pleasantly surprised to see that a large number people were taking active interest in the art pieces on display. It was a beautiful day and that helps too!

I am not sure how many Chicago artists works are on display. Here are a few, I know of. At the outset, let me apologize to a few artists whose works I could not see.. John Adduci, Ruth Aizuss Migdal and Donna Hapac.. Next Time - Promise!
