Rylerson gave this sculptureas a memorial to the Ottawa Nation.

It is the oldest sculpture on the Chicago Park District property.


Ottawa Indian family on the move, halting as if alert to some imminent danger. 
On the base are four incised granite tablets (original bronze reliefs) with scenes of Ottawa life - The Peace Pipe, the Corn Dance, Forestry and The Hunt

A gift to the city of Chicago by John Crerar, who left a $100,000 bequest in 1889 to construct a Lincoln statue. His trustees commissioned the sculptor Augustus Saint Gaudens to create this tribute.

Kate Nesin, a doctoral candidate at Princeton University, explored how Twombly has pursued a rich sculptural practice for decades alongside his better-known painting production.
